This is a site to celebrate life, exquisite, ordinary, exuberant life. All about living, loving, laughing … all the ‘L’ words crunchy and gooey in your mouth. From the local here in the beautiful West of Ireland to the big bad world and beyond.

This time, this minute, this very moment, will not come around again so take it in your hands and treasure it, then let it go and dip fully clothed or stark naked into the next moment that’s arrived, and now already gone.

You are the one, the only, only you, nobody else like you, before and after.

Through podcasts from Sound Out Radio to exquisite writing, we have it all right here for you. Come and join us. Welcome!

 The Summer Day

Mary Oliver

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean-
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down-
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don’t know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

This blog is a piece of joy – to me. It is not any of the following: a final archive of my writing, a sponsored publication, or indeed the representation of perfection. While the content of this blog is real, the ideas behind the blog are vital and idealistic. This includes my recipes; I’ve tried them, enjoyed them, and loved them, but it just might be a different experience for you. That’s because recipes are about more than measurements and directions; they’re about climate and quality, intuition and practice, and above all, they are about respect, and even love. These recipes work excellently for me and I offer them to you to enjoy and share as you wish. That said, I am not perfect and neither are my contributors. If an error is brought to my attention, I will address it and do all I can to correct it with great immediacy. I have tried to credit all authors but if you are upset at my use of any material, either image or prose, I will happily correct the error or remove item. In addition, my thoughts and opinions change from time to time and I may, or may not, let you know when they do. However, the opinions expressed by others on this site are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect my opinions. I, as the author of Amazing Travel Living, am not responsible for the accuracy of any of the information supplied here. Enough said.
